Mithapukur is located at 25.5417° N 89.2833° E . It has 82563 units of house hold and total area 515.62 km².

As of 1991 Bangladesh census^[1], Mithapukur has a population of 409915. Males constitute are 51.09% of the population, and females 48.91%. This Upazila's eighteen up population is 207035. Mithapukur has an average literacy rate of 23% (7+ years), and the national average of 32.4% literate. ^[2]
