From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mitchell Otis Page (born October 15, 1951 in Los Angeles, California) is a former left fielder in Major League Baseball who was largely utilized as a designated hitter from 1977 to 1984. Page showed poise with a promising career ahead of him when he batted .307 with 21 home runs and 75 runs batted in for the Oakland Athletics as a rookie in 1977. He finished second in voting for the American League's Rookie of the Year Award, narrowly losing to Eddie Murray by a few votes. However, Page never again matched his rookie season stats during another seven years of professional play.

Currently, Page is functioning as roving minor-league hitting instructor for the club while on a leave of absence from his position as the hitting coach for the Washington Nationals, a position he has been in since 2006, after serving as a roving minor-league hitting instructor for the club in 2005. Previously, he was hitting coach from 2002-2004 for the St. Louis Cardinals.
