Mitchell, Manitoba

Mitchell is a community in Manitoba, Canada, located in the rural municipality of Hanover, just west of Steinbach, Manitoba. Mitchell is split in two by provincial highway #52. Mitchell is serviced by a co-op gas station, convenience store, seniors centre, baseball/fastball complex and the Mitchell Arena. The seniors complex is attached to the arena.

Mitchell has two schools: an elementary school as well as a middle school. Students from Mitchell need to go to Steinbach Regional Seconday School for high school.


The community is settled in a mostly forested area with housing lots much larger then the lots found in Steinbach. Mitchell has been growing substantially since 1995.

Mitchell is home to several different sports teams, including baseball, hockey, and ringette. The Mitchell Mavericks play in the local fastball league and the Mitchell Mariners compete in the Winnipeg Senior Baseball League. There are also youth baseball and softball leagues for all ages. The hockey team, the Mitchell Mohawks, is the pride of the community. The junior Mohawks play in the Hanover-Tache Junior Hockey League. There are also hockey teams that compete in every level of the Eastman Minor Hockey.
