Route 755 was a proposed highway entirely in the city limits of St. Louis which was never built due to local objections. Its northern terminus was to be at Interstate 70 in the northeastern part of the city and its southern terminus was at the junction of Interstates 44 and 55, interchanging with Interstate 64/U.S. Route 40 along the way[1]. The road was to be a freeway bypassing the downtown area of St. Louis and provide the currently-missing connections of northbound Interstate 44/55 to westbound Interstate 64 and eastbound I-64 to southbound I-44/55 or westbound Interstate 70.
[edit] Unbuilt Interstate
Interstate 755 was partially built, in the form of large flyover ramps from Interstate 44/55 and Interstate 64 which lead to local streets. These large interchanges have excess right of way as well as unused pavement segments. Truman Parkway and long exits to Lafayette Avenue and 20th, Chestnut, and Market Streets were all that was built of the once proposed and since canceled I-755.[citation needed]
