Missing Links (game show)

Missing Links was a Goodson-Todman game show hosted by Ed McMahon & announced by Wayne Howell, and future Pyramid host Dick Clark & announced by Ernie Anderson that aired on two networks. On NBC from September 9, 1963 - March 27, 1964, and on ABC from March 30, 1964 - December 25, 1964.

A panel of three celebrities faced a studio contestant who came in with a weird & unusual story. He/she gave a statement with a blank at the end or near the end, and then each panelist tried to guess the missing word. A correct answer from one celebrity won money for the contestant (unlike most panel shows using this type of format), but an incorrect answer passed the turn to the next star, and if all three missed, the host gave the starting letter to the answer, and the round continued as before. A correct answer on the first go round won the contestant $50, while a correct answer on a second chance was worth half the amount or $25. Four statements were played meaning that the contestant could win up to $200.

Three guests played each day with the final guest being a celebrity guest.

When this show was cancelled by NBC in 1964, ABC picked it up, and ironically, scheduled it in the same time slot opposite the new entry NBC replaced it with-(the original)Jeopardy!
