[edit] Anastasio Somoza Debayle

His article says that when running for president in 1974 he outlawed nine opposition parties. Is this inaccurate? Gazpacho 19:47, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

I'm not sure, but he never made Nicaragua a one-party state. There was the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party. Granted, the difference between the two was dubious, but still.

[edit] License tagging for Image:Cold War Map 1959.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:Cold War Map 1959.PNG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 00:05, 18 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Anti-communist parties

Hi. I notice you created the new category (although it is a bit vague and problematic, it may work). I have National Fascist Party and the category for fascist parties on my watchlist, and I wanted to let ypu note that I reverted your edit on the former: the former is included in the latter, and the latter is included in the new category, so individual inclusion of parties is redundant. Thank you. Dahn 00:40, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please use edit summaries

Hi MinnesotanConfederacy. I'd like to request that you start using edit summaries in your edits, as they are helpful for others to determine what the content of your edit is. As you can see from your contributions, you very rarely use them. Thanks. Picaroon9288 00:52, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bogus Categories

Please don't add unnecessary categories like Category:Jamaican anti-communists and Category:Kenyan anti-communists. They are completely unnecessary, not useful and just add clutter. Hu 23:08, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Blanking

Please stop. If you continue to blank pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. - Ozzykhan 21:45, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

"Blanking?" Josh

[edit] Your request for Greater Somalia edit on Wikipedia talk:Blank maps

I'm curious what the map is needed for, I can't think of a reason that a world map needs Greater Somalia boundaries, but a regional map might be much more appropriate. --Canuckguy 15:09, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

For a roleplay game my friends and I are going to play. Josh 20:22, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Cold_War_map.PNG listed for deletion

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Cold_War_map.PNG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. User:Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr) 02:24, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

This is an informative map of the US allies versus USSR allies. By no means should this be deleted!

[edit] Category:Anti communist parties

Hi! I have added some comments about my doubts of the use of the Category talk:Anti-communist political parties‎ to the Category talk:Anti-communist political parties‎. I hope you will respond so we can debate the issue and come to some conclusion. C mon 09:09, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Idi Amin in popular culture

The nomination can be found at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2007 February 21#Category:Idi Amin in popular culture. You are welcome to contribute to the discussion. --DeLarge 10:22, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WP Indonesia Project

Are you aware of this? Are you aware of the protocols of the formal procedures for creating categories in wikipedia? SatuSuro 04:15, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

No, I am not. However, if I created inappropriate categories, please feel free to delete them. Josh 04:19, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

  • Before going into an indonesian category - it would be first
  • (1) a good idea to see the official process for reviewing category proposals
  • (2) when in a subject area - see if there is a project where you can propose an idea to the members of that project
  • That way you are less likely to create a reaction that reflects badly on your activities - its one thing to have a bright idea- another if it actually fits into what is already happening! - SatuSuro 04:27, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
    • I see. Thanks a lot. :) Josh 04:29, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Its just that some eds and admins when they see you have already had problems with creating cats - it looks like you havent gone to WP:Category to come to terms with the issues - if you read that, you might be less likely to create them on whim - and a s a consequence will become a more valued member of the wikipedia community with a bit more wisdom of one of the components on what makes it all tick! SatuSuro 04:33, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Katanga_location.PNG

Thanks for uploading Image:Katanga_location.PNG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:31, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Somoza

Hi, you placed an NPOV tag on the "Assassination and legacy" section of the Anastasio Somoza García article but did not explain why on the talk page. Though I could see a couple of words you might have a problem with, I think the section is fairly neutral (though the middle paragraph doesn't actually fit into the topic that well). I would encourage you to post a note on the talk page explaining what you think violated NPOV and/or edit the section yourself so we can remove the tag.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 02:32, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Misessuit.jpg

Hello MinnesotanConfederacy, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:Misessuit.jpg) was found at the following location: User:MinnesotanConfederacy. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Please note that it is possible that the image on your page is included vie a template or usebox. In that case, please find a free image for the template or userbox. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 13:39, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] DYK

Updated DYK query On 27 May 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Albert Kalonji, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

[edit] EndUN Userbox

Hi, until recently you displayed my EndUN userbox on your user page--I'm glad you liked it. What you may not realize is that on June 29, User:Dmcdevit edited your user page and replaced the code with code more to his her/his liking. Among other things, this action partially and selectively depopulated Category:Wikipedians interested in the United Nations--most likely removing your user name from the category.

I'm disputing the actions of Dmcdevit at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2007_July_1#User:DieWeisseRose.2FUserboxes.2FEndUN. So, please consider having a look and joining in the discussion. In the meantime, if you want to put my original userbox code back on your user page then here it is: {{User:DieWeisseRose/Userboxes/EndUN}} Cheers. --DieWeisseRose 03:45, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I'm your friend!

... and I'm gonna steal your userboxes! Amit 17:41, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! BTW, I landed up on your user page because you catagorized Abdul Kalam as a Tamil politition. He's not really a politition. In fact he has never contested for any public office (except the President's election, which was a complete no-contest). I think this was discussed before on the talk page. Cheers. Amit 17:59, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm really interested in learning more about India. Do you have MSN messenger? Josh 18:00, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
No but I have Google talk. You can use it too if you have a gmail account. Amit 18:01, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
I do. How does Google talk work? Josh 18:03, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
You just log into your mail account. You'll see your contacts listed at the left in a box. You can use that to chat(you may need select "standard view"(with chat) at the bottom of the page, if that's not already selected").
All right, thanks. Mine is roachbusters@gmail.com if you'd like to add me. :) Josh 18:06, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hey! Here's a heart for you :)

[edit] You've been loved by ReluctantPhilosopher

Hey there! ReluctantPhilosopher has loved you by placing a heart icon in the top-right corner of your userpage. Don't worry, it's not vandalism, but simply a small way to spread the WikiLove. Remember to pass it on to all your friends by adding {{User:Arknascar44/Love Cabal}} to the top of their pages. Don't forget to add your name here! Love and best wishes, Amit@Talk 04:06, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Happy Birthday!

A happy Birthday message to you, Josh, from Amit@Talk Have a great day!

Sure, I have an AIM account, what about that? Just tell me your user account or email me it and I'll contact you through that (I don't really feel like writing my account here). — ዮም | (Yom) | TalkcontribsEthiopia 05:28, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Germany Invitation

Hello, MinnesotanConfederacy! I'd like to call your attention to the WikiProject Germany and the German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board. I hope their links, sub-projects and discussions are interesting and even helpful to you. If not, I hope that new ones will be.

[edit] Removal of category from your userpage

Hi. In enacting consensus from User categories for discussion, I have removed the category Category:Wikipedians interested in books from your userpage. It was determined in that deletion debate that this category should be depopulated of individuals, but kept as a parent category. If you wish to display a category reflecting your interest in books, please consider one of the specific sub-categories under its umbrella. Thanks, and please excuse the necessary editing of your user page! ----Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:00, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
