[edit] Chicago cycling
I see that you're from Chicago; I was born on the south side actually. I have my permanent residence in Frankfort, which is excellent for cycling in the south of Illinois near Joliet. You should take a look at the area. Kallenovsky 09:12, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response, good to see you know all about this fine cycling area. I've been meaning to get a group of people together to start a small cycling tour from Joliet to the north near Gurnee when I return from France. This would be spanding for a few days going east and west as well. Nothing really competitive, just a great long ride for everyone to enjoy the summer weather next year. Though it may be difficult to plan out some routes going north passing Chicago. Also, thanks for fixing the link to my page at the Commons. Kallenovsky 08:39, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Cycling icon
I hope you'll forgive the impersonal nature of this note; inasmuch as I've essentially the same message for four editors, I'm copying it to the talk pages of SimonBrooke, Mindfrieze, Guy, and Vclaw. In any event, a discussion was recently undertaken at Portal talk:Cycling as to the image used in Template:Cycling project (which discussion, I should say, seemed to be altogether a good one); acting boldly, and consistent with my idiosyncratic and obsession-driven attempt properly to refactor or format the sundry Portal talk pages, I moved the discussion to Template talk:Cycling project, where such discussion is more likely to invite participation from others interested in the topic). I mean not at all to be indecorous, and so if one of you should revert, I'd certainly understand, especially inasmuch as Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Cycling, another page at which such discussion might belong, seems generally moribund. [edit] Chicago-Midway
Hi Mindfrieze, Yes I have asked for the author's permission to upload the pictures (I noted it on the page once the picture is clicked) but I wasn't told of what liscense to use for the picture. They told me I could use the pictures in the article as long as they were named. What type of liscense do you suggest for the pictures? Sox23 00:29, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- I've e-mailed them asking permission to use the GDFL liscense. I'll keep you posted when I get a response. Thanks for checking up on the issues. I hope they agree; those pictures make the article look 110% better. Sox23 03:19, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Allen Yao has agreed to the GFDL license for Image:Midway Airport Terminal (Allen Yao).jpg. I have changed the license for that picture- I'm still waiting for news from the other author. Sox23 03:34, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Brett Despain also has agreed to the GFDL license for Image:Midway Airport Runway 4R (Brett B. Despain).jpg. I have changed the licenses of both authors to the GFDL. However, there are almost 10 different versions of the license and I didn't know which one to post so I just posted the first one,

. Is this okay? Sox23 17:13, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Okay I'll just leave the licenses I have on them now. I don't want to go through the process...you're right the Bears are gonna kick some serious Saint ass today! I'm predicting a 21-10 victory Sox23 18:57, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] High Res
Hey Mindfrieze- Now that I have the correct licenses and authors permission for the MDW pictures you mentioned before that the high resolution pictures would look better. I agree with you and am willing to do it but how do you upload the photos in high resolution? Sox23 00:44, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] CHICOTW
I see your user name listed as a member of the Wikipedia:WikiProject_Chicago. I do not know if you are aware that we are attempting to revive the CHICOTW. See our results history. We could use additional input in nominating future articles, voting on nominees and editing winning nominees. Should you contribute you will receive weekly notices like the following:

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Italvega-logo.jpg
| This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Italvega-logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:20, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:Italvega_super_speciale.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Italvega_super_speciale.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 17:21, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
