I added Solodyn to the list of trade names, but I am not 100% exactly sure if it is a minocycline itself or not... I don't have any expertise in the field. Aaronw 02:52, 18 October 2006 (UTC) (forgot to sign the first time)
- Yes, it is. It's just minocycline formulated in extended release form.WolfKeeper 02:19, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Good stuff, Aaronw and Wolfkeeper. I'm not too sure about all the trade names because some were never used in the UK.
I see someone wants to tidy this article up. OK, but, as far as I can see, the information is more or less right. It's pretty much a question of moving the references down to the bottom and changing the order a bit.
Should Dentomycin be added to the list? http://www.dental-news.net/prdetail.asp?id=241
I take Minocycline as a treatment for acne, and the side of the bottle contains the warning, "prolonged or excessive exposure to direct and/or artificial sunlight *SHOULD BE AVOIDED* while taking this medication." Perhaps an explanation of this should be added.
"It has also been linked to cases of Lupus, although rarely" Which Lupus? you end up on the disambig page... 81.86.65.92 (talk) 18:05, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
I took minocycline for about two years for my acne and I developed auto immune arthritis at age 17. I added that little bit under the cautions.Mouthforwar17 (talk) 16:49, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Minocycline and autoimmune hepatitis
My 16 year old twin daughters have developed autoimmune hepatitis as a result of taking minocycline for adolescent acne. Minocycline is listed as one of the triggers of autoimmune hepatitis on the Wikipedia entry for autoimmune hepatitis, yet is missed on the description of Cautions under the entry for minocycline. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.228.71.93 (talk) 16:05, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
