It is my impression, as a lifelong Minnesotan, that "Governor's Mansion" is used more in common conversation and in news articles than "Governor's Residence" in reference to this building. I did a Google search comparison:
Minnesota + "Governor's Residence" = 13,700 hits
Minnesota + "Governor's Mansion" = 76,600 hits
(The official name is the State Ceremonial Building, but that is rarely used except in formal documents.)
I propose moving this article to Minnesota Governor's Mansion. Jonathunder 23:37, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

The official website calls it M G residence. I think it should have stayed (moved back to) Minnesota Governor's Residence. Smith03 01:40, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- A state website may use that, but that does not make it the official name. The official name by Minnesota law is "State Ceremonial Building" but no one ever calls it that. Wikipedia article titles generally go with the most common name. Jonathunder 02:57, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Do we know for a fact that the name is still officially "State Ceremonial Building". The wiki article states that what is was name in 1965. It may have been official change to M G R at some other point. I would also agrue that the local media does use Residence as much as mansion. I think it should be moved back to MGR or if you want "State Ceremonial Building but I don't think it should have been moved to M G M Smith03 13:26, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
- After reading the official website[1], it certainly seems as if the official name is now "Governor's Residence". I have also heard it called the "Governor's Mansion", but I wasn't sure which was more common. So I googled "Minnesota Governor's Residence" and "Minnesota Governor's Mansion". The number of hits was almost identical at about 700 for each. The NRHP calls it the "Horace Hills Irvine House", definitely not the most common name for it. It is administered by the "Governor's Residence Council", so I'm inclined agree with Smith03, and second the motion to Move it back to "Minnesota Governor's Residence"--Appraiser 14:02, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
I moved it back to Residence Smith03 18:26, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
