The Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is the member of the Executive Council of Ontario (or cabinet) responsible for agricultural, food and rural affairs with Ontario. Traditionally the ministry existed to promote products grow in Ontario (via Foodland Ontario) and provide financial assistance to farms in times of need. Rural affairs was added to provide communications between the province and non-urban dwellers in the province.
The current minister is Leona Dombrowsky.
The previous minister was Steve Peters, who served in the post from 2003 until 2005.
