Mindfuck

In slang, a mindfuck is something that intentionally destabilizes, confuses or manipulates another person's mind. Other similar usages include:

  • Operation Mindfuck, a principle of Discordianism
  • Incredible Expanding Mindfuck, an experimental music group founded by Steven Wilson
  • I.E.M. (album), eponymous debut album of said group
  • "Mindfuck" is a song by alternative rock band Ween, featured on their 1986 album The Crucial Squeegie Lip
  • "Mindfuck (A New Equation)" is a song by the hip hop group The Coup, featured on their 2006 album Pick a Bigger Weapon
  • The term Mindfuck is also used to refer to a movie where misdirection is used to lead to an ending that is completely unexpected, but is coherent with the rest of the movie, and even consistent with clues subtly presented during the course of the movie.
  • An Internet meme which consists of a picture that seems normal but on closer inspection contains a scary picture
