[edit] Licensing
This image is a screenshot from a copyrighted film, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by the studio which produced the film, and possibly also by any actors appearing in the screenshot. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
[edit] Fair use rationale for List of Doctor Who items
This image, Miniscope.jpg, is being linked here; though the image is copyright © to the BBC, I (Karen Blocher (talk • contribs)) feel that it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- it is a low-resolution screenshot from a television episode;
- it is being used for visual identification of an object discussed in the list, and as such provides context not possible using words alone;
- no more free alternative exists or can exist, since all images from television are presumed to be non-free;
- the use of the image in this article will in no way infringe on the BBC's copyright, or ability to market the programme or ancillary works.
