[edit] City class
I rvt'ed the new edits which showed a city class for two reasons. First, as the Status of Indian cities list indicates, a city's status of A-1, A or B-1 indicates central government rental allowances to its employees in these cities (among other things). Since this template seems to deal with cities' population, I think the use of the term "city class" in this template and context is not only irrelevent but also gives casual readers a very wrong impression on the status of Indian cities. The second reason I rv'ed the edits was because some cities (notably Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad) are classified as A-1 for purposes of CCA (Compesatory City Allowance) and as A for purposes of HRA (House Rent Allowance), so just randomly grouping them as "A" cities makes little sense. Thanks for the thoughtful editing. - P.K.Niyogi 23:20, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Police your template
Why did this contain Dhanbad, pop. 198,000? and more important: what else is wrong with it? Septentrionalis PMAnderson 06:51, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- I had developed the Template:Million plus cities in India based on data of Census Commission of India on the web. The back up was List of million-plus cities in India. Now Census Commission has removed that data. Many editors are editing the template/ related page without any reference data, and I am rather helpless in preventing it. Therefore, I felt that without proper reference the template is somewaht redundant. As such I removed some of the templates. If some one wants to maintain it, he is most welcome. - P.K.Niyogi (talk) 06:14, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Is the name correct?
Yes. This is the list of million plus UAs. I suggest a name change of this article, and creation of another with million plus cities. Cheers, -- Rajith Mohan (Talk to me..) 03:59, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
