Talk:Military history of the Russian Federation
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I suspect the only purpose of this page is to create a heavily POV duplication of articles on Russian Army, History of post-Soviet Russia, and First Chechen War. Current phrasing is simply unacceptable. Try to use the tags about "glorious" Chechens in the article on Siege of Beslan. Or try to spruce up the Iraqi War article with mentions of "humiliating losses" and "demoralized American army". I don't think such a phrasing will be regarded as constructive. The analogy with Vietnam doesn't help, considering that Russian soldiers defended their own country from Islamic terrorists while US soldiers tried to impose their ideology on the people from another continent (by gassing civilians, BTW). --Ghirlandajo 21:41, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry. I never really wrote a word of what the article had stated, but had generally dragged much of it from other Wikipedia articles. I have also done this with the article on the Military history of Imperial Russia, as to my chagrin such issues were not addressed. The general purpose I felt these articles were to serve were for the purpose of having a complete military series on Russia - as Wikipedia has extensive information, etc. on articles such as Military ranks of Poland. Thus, I wanted to create articles on the ranks, insignia of each branch of the navy, army and air force, and felt it wise that military histories be included in the Template:Russian military. The POV etc. were not any words of mine, as I had gotten the information off the History of Russia series. I hope this wasn't a bad move. Take care, Molotov (talk)

- P.S. Working on Russian military articles has been a real pleasure. Molotov (talk)

To all other readers, the problem has been addressed in a peaceful fashion. Molotov (talk)
