Talk:MILF

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MILF goes way back, it has nothing to do with American Pie.

This should be a disambiguation page and include American Pie (movie) acronym. --Daniel C. Boyer 16:39, 18 Oct 2003 (UTC)

[edit] Should this be a redirect to Moro ILF?

Now this is a disambig between a major terrorist org and a softlink to wiktionary for a term from a movie, nevermind vulgarity. The latter is of the "redirects are cheap" variety and should only exist if there is no competition, but of course here there is. So I am answering, YES. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 05:11, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Not only have you ignored many conversations on various other talk pages, you've created a number of obvious problems for pages that link here. Do you really want those other pages out there to read, "Such and such 'actress' has appeared in a number of MILF films," MILF=Moro Islamic Liberation Front? Quite a movie no doubt. I suspect someone will come along shortly and revert your edit. If not, you should move the old content to MILF (disambiguation) and fix links on a few articles that you'd probably rather not look at. -MrFizyx 18:42, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

To answer the original poster - yes it should. And to answer MrFizyx, I have done just what was suggested. I have created a new disambig page at MILF (disambiguation) to handle any links from MILF that do not refer to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front. The reason for this change is two-fold. One, the slang term "MILF", aside from being completely unimportant, is a wiktionary link. It is not important enough to be featured on Wikipedia at all. Second, as for the Disney theme park, there is no evidence anywhere - even on that article - that the park is called "MILF". Even if it was, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front is of FAR greater significance. Godheval 04:49, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

This should come back as a regular article. There is now a legitimate cite for the information in the form of a November 6 Village Voice column on the subject. It gives you evidence of increase in popularity and includes comments from Nina Hartley and includes the columnist observations[1]

Not even being an porn-fan, I came to wikipedia to look for the origins of the term "Milf", and was surprised to find the page non-existent. I disagree with Godheval when he says that the term MILF is "not important". Just google for the term Milf and see how many hits you get, and look at how the term is being used in mainstream media as well. Rather than being unimportant, the popularity of the term MILF and MILF-movies reflect an interesting cultural/sexuological phenomenon, closely related to the increasing numbers of student/teacher sex-scandals in the U.S and popularity of series like "desperate housewives". the last few years. Numerous magazines and newspapers have been writing articles about this phenomenon, so I'd say it is rather odd that there is no page on MILF on Wikipedia. [2]Erik749 (talk) 06:05, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
