The Military Institute of Science and Technology (Bengali: সামরিক বিজ্ঞাণ ও প্রযুক্তি প্রতিষ্ঠান) or MIST is an engineering institute in Bangladesh. It is governed by the Bangladesh Army.

There are four departments at MIST, covering Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. MIST also offers a Masters in Business Administration.

The Military Institution of Science and Technology has been established to impart technical education to the students in various fields as outlined in its Mission and Aim. It is a new academic institution with its unique features. However, it is dedicated in its endeavour to provide the best possible congenial academic atmosphere for those who dedicate their total attention and devotion to serious academic pursuits.

It was established in 19 April 1998 at Mirpur cantonment Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has a campus of green natural beauty with state of the art modern comodities. Now it will be operated by the (Bangladesh university of professionals).

MIST has the most charming and fascinated campus in Bangladesh.Green is everywhere.Trees are lying in every side of the road.MIST has a big playground where CRICKET and FOOTBALL tournaments are organized.Infront of tower building inside the tree shade students passes some times to get the coolness of natural beauty and a refreshing air which soothes their heart.

Now a days for admitting in MIST,high gpa in HSC is must.In the goverment university zone,MIST is taking the highest gpa holders after an admission test and medical check up.Every year after passing HSC,lot of students collect admission form from the MIST admission section.After a short while depending on gpa (last year it was 4.6 without optional),a few students are selected to sit for admission exam.From the admission test result passed students are called for medical check up.So the main work to admit in MIST is to have a high gpa in hsc and a good admission test.

MIST has a well-arranged library enriched with over 30,000 books, 1,000 CD-ROMs, and a good number of magazines, periodicals and journals from home and abroad. The library is also subscribing a good number of online journals through Bangladesh INASP-PERI Consortium. MIST Central Library has a modern Cyber Centre for Internet browsing. Apart from that the library has introduced Koha (open source software) as a part of Integrated Library Management System. Also a web site of MIST Central Library has been established which is working on Local Intranet. Students can search the library catalogue and get respective book issue information along with other valuable information from the website. The Reading Room of the library is fully air-conditioned. The library remains open from Saturday to Thursday from 0800 hours to 1430 hours and from 1700 hours to 2000 hours during the summer and from 1600 hours to 1900 hours during the winter. In addition to the MIST Central Library, each department has its own library enriched with adequate text and reference books. Enrichment process is on and progressing fast.
