[edit] Warnings
Re: South Padre Island, Texas - Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thanks. Re: Category:Real estate companies of the United States - Please stop adding commercial links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. Rklawton 10:21, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unblock
{unblock|I honestly did not know about the messsages until I spent more time with the system and I have not tried to hide anything, I use my real name and valid email address. I'm a Godly man and straight forward. I just did not know I had those messages. Now my name is on that unblock list. I do not plan to do editing, I just want to clear my name. I was thinking that I was adding valuable links about real estate to the cities we do business in. Clearly I meant no harm and will exercise extreme caution in the future, you have my word on that.}
[edit] General note: NPOV on Texas. using TW
[edit] March 2007
Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. As a member of the Wikipedia community, I would like to remind you to adhere to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy for editors, which you appear to have violated at Texas. Thank you. -- Whereizben - Chat with me - My Contributions 12:55, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't fully understand, is it a rule specific to the Texas page, because it is a special page? Or about any page in Wikipedia. Could something similar about the Texas Gulf Coast be added on Wikipedia, but in a different tone?Mikestuart 15:24, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
- Mike, it is a general rule for Wikipedia. Please read at Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy for more information. If that does not help, please let me know and I will try to provide some specific examples. The first thing that jumps out at me for being NPOV is "The Texas coast is like no other", which is a statement that is not really quantifiable. It is true that maybe you mean "It is like no other because it is 367 miles long, which no other is" but it certainly sounds more like a statement that says "The Texas coast is great" which definitely brings in your point of view.
- So to answer your question, you can certainly have a section on the coast, but it must be neutral in its point of view - facts only! Thanks!
- P.S. Please use : to indent when responding, it makes it much easier to read. You will notice that I used :: with my reply, and thus for yours to be over even more, try :::.
- Enjoy! -- Whereizben - Chat with me - My Contributions 15:57, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Greetings
Hi. I've deleted your picture per WP:NOT. Please note that pictures for use on user pages only are not encyclopedic, and should instead by uploaded to the the Commons. Thanks. Xiner (talk, email) 16:12, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Final warning: Spam on Texas. using TW
[edit] March 2007
Please stop. Continuing to add unsourced or original content, as you did to Texas, is considered vandalism and may result in a block.
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did to Texas, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted as well, preventing anyone from linking to them from any site that uses the MediaWiki spam blacklist, which includes all of Wikimedia and Wikipedia.
Mike, please read all of the welcome guidelines and understand them. I hope that you do understand that you are on very thin ice - when you were unblocked you were given ONE chance to follow the guidelines, and I have now warned you twice for your edits, which you could have been reported for and blocked immediately. Your reposting of the same material (minus the one sentence that I highlighted before) is not the appropriate way of doing this. I have added the final warning about the spam link because the link you added appears to be to a commercial web site used for selling real estate, and that IS NOT an appropriate link for Wikipedia. I want to trust that you, and most other users want to do the right thing, but you do not seem to be taking the time to learn about what to do before you do things. SO PLEASE take the time, read through the above links when you were first welcomed, and try to add constructively. Thanks! -- Whereizben - Chat with me - My Contributions 18:09, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

- I thought I had made the article from a NPOV liked you suggested. I wanted to add something about the Texas Gulf Coast, because it's not even mentioned in Wikipedia and our coastal area is always left out of major discussions. The source of the information from the article came from the Texas General Land Office and Texas Travel, both State agencies. As for the link, would this link be spam: [[1]] Is there a way or place I could write something about the Texas Gulf Coast and have it reviewed for meeting all the guidelines? I don't want to be on thin ice and I would also like to learn how to contribute in an acceptable way. Mikestuart 19:24, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

- Mike, as far as putting up something for people to look, try going to the Texas talk page and posting something that you think might work. Even better, first go read Welcome to Wikipedia and the Five Pillars of Wikipedia. If you have questions, or want to see what other editors think of something, also try going to Newcomers help page and asking a question, or putting {{helpme}} here on your talk page with a question! As for being on thin ice, I don't mean to imply that I can do anything other than report your behavior, but as I am sure you read when Netsnipe said when he unblocked you, you can be blocked at any time, without warning, because of your past problems. The problem with what you have posted so far, besides the link seeming like spam, is that it must be encyclopedic, and so from looking at your link I would say that is not encyclopedic when I glanced at it quickly because it does not seem to add any value. As for the source of your information, if you want to post something that needs sourcing, be prepared to have the source available for it. Some editors will throw a {{fact}} tag onto things that need sourcing, others may simply remove it, especially if it has been posted repeatedly without a source. Please let me know if this helps! And keep trying. And read up on the links I provided and go to talk pages and ask questions :) -- Whereizben - Chat with me - My Contributions 22:30, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
