I work in public relations and marketing communications (since 1994), after four+ years as a newspaper journalist. PR and communication pros should tread carefully when creating or editing articles on Wikipedia, but not be banned. Anyone who starts or edit an entry naturally has some interest -- even bias. Therefore, singling out a particular industry and not allow that industry to create or edit articles is an overreaction and myopic.

Among the past and current client-related Wikipedia entries I have edited are the Toledo Storm and the Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. Also edited the famous Toledo, Ohio, natives section and added the West Toledo Herald newspaper in the newspaper section of the Toledo, Ohio article. (The Toledo, Ohio, revisions are from personal interest. I live/work in the region.)
