[edit] Photographs

What is wrong with the photo of Mikkeli? It was taken from the Observation tower, in the centre of the city about five years ago.159753 20:07, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Sorry Lindsey/Philip. Your picture lacks artistic sensitivity and meaning. In any event, I didn't think that anyone apart from me ever went to Mikkeli. Bob BScar23625 18:26, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Picture gallery

Jyril. I hear what you say, but it is like this. There was a request tab for images to be added to this article. Between 1997 and 2000 I made numerous visits to Mikkeli Polytechnic/University as a visiting lecturer. Early one morning, in May 2000, I walked around Mikkeli taking photographs. The images in the gallery are the result of that. Why is that a problem?. Bob BScar23625 21:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

ps. What is there in the article that needs references?.

[edit] Wartime history

Shikker. You have altered :

"Mikkeli was the site for the headquarters of Marshal Mannerheim during World War II, in which Finland participated as a co-belligerent of Germany."

to read :

"Mikkeli was the site for the headquarters of Marshal Mannerheim during World War II."

Tell me, why have you made that alteration?. Bear in mind that many readers may not know anything about the nature of Finland's participation in World War II. Bob BScar23625 14:51, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

ps My own impression is that many Finns have something of a "blind spot" concerning the nature of Finland's participation in World War II. BScar23625 14:53, 22 October 2006 (UTC)

That is hardly information which has to be in the second sentance of the article. Besides it is wrong. :) Finland fought the Soviet Union with Germany durning the Continuation War, but during the Winter War and the Lapland War it wasn't a co-belligerent of Germany. -- Jniemenmaa 08:51, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Jniemenmaa. I am not a Finn, so my perspective is that of an outsider. I will not press the matter. best wishes. Bob BScar23625 09:28, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

ps : as an aside, the Winter War is not considered to have been part of WWII. Britain declared war on Finland in December 1941 after attacks on British shipping and aircraft were made from Finnish territory, and I believe that the US declared war on Finland shortly afterwards. So, it is not correct to suggest that Finland was only fighting the Soviet Union in WWII. BScar23625 10:00, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Zombies loot e-bank accounts around the Mikkeli nuclear power station disaster area.

Recent finnish language spam e-mails advertise photos on a Geocities weblog, supposedly showing dead people at the site of Mikkeli reactor explosion and maps for fallout isotope pattern. If you go there and click, you will get infected with Zbot.hs malware under the disguise of now defunct iPix Corp.'s panoramic photo view software. Zbot steals you online banking credentials and helps hackers empty your accounts. 82.131.210.162 (talk) 13:10, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
