Mikhail Malofayev

Mikhail Yuryevich Malofayev (Russian: Михаил Юрьевич Малофеев) (1956 - January 18, 2000) was a Russian general who went missing in Grozny, Chechnya, in January 2000, amidst conflicting reports, including claims of his capture.[1] His body was later found in the city.[2]

According to Russian military expert Pavel Felgenhauer, Malofayev could not rally his troops to advance. Instead, they retreated and left Malofeyev behind to his fate.[3]
