Mike Raven

Mike Raven (15 November 1924 - 4 April 1997) was a British DJ and occasional actor.

He was born Austin Churton Fairman, but adopted the name Mike Raven when he began a career in pirate radio. With the collapse of pirate radio, he became a DJ for BBC Radio 1.

In the early 1970s, he enjoyed a brief foray into British horror films, most notably as Count Karnstein in Hammer's Lust for a Vampire (1971), he also appeared on the music show 2 G's and the Pop People (1972), performing a version of the Monster Mash.

He gave airtime to Rhythm and Blues and the Delta Blues and was responsible for introducing many people in England to this music.
