Mike Barrett sometimes called MB, is the television play-by-play announcer for the Portland Trail Blazers. In addition to calling the play-by-play he talks on the weekly radio show, Trail Blazers Courtside, presented by L.A. Weight Loss. The 06-07 season was Mike’s fourth season as TV Play-by-Play and eighth season as a member of the Trail Blazers' broadcast team. He became a member of the Blazers' broadcast team before the 99-00 season as radio studio host and was the television sideline reporter for a time. Mike Barret also does special assignments for the Blazers' website, makes Trail Blazer Podcasts, and has his own blog on the Blazers' website. [1] He served as the radio and television play-by-play for the Portland Fire for all three of their seasons.
After graduating from Oregon State University in 1991, Barrett got his start in the business at KUIK-AM 1360 in Hillsboro calling high school basketball games. He became Sports Director at KXL-AM in Portland in 1992. He expanded his experience in the broadcasting field and worked as the University of Oregon’s back up play-by-play broadcaster for basketball and football and was the football sideline reporter for seven years. In 1999, he was hired by the Portland Trail Blazers as radio studio host and editor of the Blazers' official magazine, Rip City Magazine.
