Mihama-ku, Chiba

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mihama-ku (美浜区), in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan, is home to mostly residential neighborhoods. It is serviced by train stations including Kemigawahama-eki on the JR Keiyo line. Hanamigawa, a river, cuts through Mihama-ku, and runs into Tokyo Bay. Hanamigawa apparently has a paved-over riverbed near the shore.

The newly developed waterfront area of Kaihin Makuhari is in Mihama-ku. ÆON, BMW Japan, Seiko Instruments and several other companies are headquartered in the Makuhari business district of Mihama-ku. Japan's second largest convention center Makuhari Messe and Chiba Marine Stadium, the home ground of the Chiba Lotte Marines baseball team are located in Kaihin Makuhari.

Whole the Mihama-ku is reclaimed land from Tokyo Bay.
