I am Daniel Mietchen, a biophysicist working on the evolution of animal communication systems. Currently, my focus is on brain morphometry, as detailed on my lab page.

My work in Wikipedia focuses on science and sustainability as well as on interwiki. With the same focus, I am also participating in the Encyclopedia of Earth, Scholarpedia and Citizendium, and the latter is currently my favourite site to contribute English language encyclopedic contents online, as it has basically no vandalism but a friendly, collaborative atmosphere instead in which expertise is valued. I am especially fond of their Eduzendium initiative which allows homework assignments to have a long-term impact.
