[edit] Not Kilometers?

Why aren't they simplified into kilometers, like 3 kilometers instead of 3000 meters?

Events run on the track are usually referred to in meters. Descriptions in kilometers tend to be for cross-country races or road races.--Boneillhawk 18:47, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
