[edit] ME music

What is the basis for such classification?! What is the basis for middle eastern musical genre that makes it different from Asian music (indian, Tajik, Uzbek, Bangaladesh etc)? Middle east is composed of many countries with completely different culture and musical traditions. Music of Iran, Turkey and Kurdish music are much closer to indian music than to African and Egyptian music. Such classification is mainly inspired by politics and religion than anything else. The article looks baseless to me. Sangak 10:44, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rename Music of Middle East and North Africa?

Anyone think maybe this article should be renamed something along the lines of 'Music of the Middle East and North Africa' or such? Certainly there is the cultural link between the two regions, through shared language, religion, history and so forth, and with the growing popularity of musical styles such as Rai, Gnawa and the like, I would imagine North Africa should be mentioned.Zekeriyah 08:17, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
