Midnight Blue Belt

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Midnight Blue Belt is a martial arts belt signifying that the wearer has attained dan rank. This belt is most commonly seen in the Korean martial arts of tang soo do and soo bahk do, where it is frequently used in place of the traditional black belt. Its origin lies in Hwang Kee, who used it to denote dan holders in the Moo Duk Kwan. The Midnight Blue Belt is worn as a symbol of the wearers humility and reminds one that perfection cannot be attained, the Black Belt in this instance being a symbol of perfection.
