[edit] Summary
Arms of Mid Glamorgan County Council 1974 - 1996.
The three red chevronels and Tudor rose on gold were taken from the previous arms of the predecessor Glamorgan County Council. The clarions added to the old arms were the badges of the de Clare family. The crest was a Welsh dragon among flames symbolic of the phoenix-like reirth of the area from the ashes of heavy industry. The supporters were a coalminer and a factory worker. The motto was "A Ddioddefws a Orfu" (He who suffered, conquered). (Source: Information sheet issued by County Council in 1970s.)
