Michael "The Hammer" Vertin, (born March 20, 1992 in Waterford, Michigan) is a newly professional ice hockey player from America who plays for the Detroit Red Wings. He is the youngest player of all time, entering the NHL at the age of 16, younger than Sidney Crosby when he joined, in the first few games of the season he became famous for his endurance, physical prowess, shooting excellence, defensive surpassing, and love for the game. In his first Stanley Cup playoff appearance against the Pittsburgh Penguins he recored a hat trick and a Gordie Howe hat trick where in the first period he quickly tore past Marc-Andre Fleury and in the Second period a goal and a shot bounced to team mate Henrik Zetterberg and near the end of the second period he and Sidney Crosby fought near Chris Osgood ending with Michael Vertin victorious.
