Besides the footballer, there are numerous notable guys named Michael Ball. The leading underwater diver is one Australian skin diver. In Germany, there is the sculptor. There are noted U.S. and Canadian actors and singers with the name, as well as numerous influential business leaders. In Ireland there is a renowned classical composer and musician. While not exactly the "John Smith" of names, it is fairly common. There are quite a few carrying it who are more noted than the footballer. A blog covering these folk is Michael Ball Only Club.

While creating this page, I also stumbled upon some references to a cricketer named Michael Ball. I denoted him by Michael Ball (cricketer) Bertil 14:03, 6 September 2005 (UTC)
