Michnikowszczyzna. Zapis choroby
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Michnikowszczyzna. Zapis choroby is a Polish book written by Rafał Ziemkiewicz. The title might be translated as: Michnik-ness. Case history. It presents a very critical view of Adam Michnik, the founder and editor-in-chief of Gazeta Wyborcza, and his role within the Polish society, as well as of the transformation in Poland after 1989. The criticism is mostly made from conservative rightist position.
In the view of the author, the neologism "Michnikowszczyzna" refers to both Michnik himself, his apprentices and the views presented in the biggest Polish newspaper (excluding tabloids). Ziemkiewicz makes an attempt to describe their allegedly huge and negative impact on the shape of politics in Poland, especially during the 90s. The book and author's thesis were criticized by many liberal authors, including those of Gazeta Wyborcza.
