Michael J. Powell

Michael J. Powell is an American R'n'B musician, producer and arranger who is best known for his work as producer for 8 time Grammy winning Soul/ R'n'B vocalist Anita Baker.

His superb production skills were an integral part of her success and rise to position as one of the most respected and successful R'n'B vocalists in popular music history.

He entirely produced the multi-platinum critically acclaimed, award winning albums Rapture (1986), Giving You The Best That I Got (1988) which reached Number 1 on The Billboard 200 and Compositions (1990).

After Compositions 1990 he was replaced by several different producers including Tommy LiPuma, Barry J. Eastmond and Baker herself on her next studio album Rhythm of Love 1994.
