Michael Cassara

Michael Andrew Cassara (b. April 14, 1981 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio is an American casting director, director and producer of musicals, plays and films.

Cassara serves as the resident casting director for the New York Musical Theatre Festival and the Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, and his work has frequently been seen at regional theatres including the Olney Theatre Center, the Goodspeed Opera House, and the Kitchen Theatre. As an educator specializing in entertainment industry topics and audition technique, he has taught master classes and workshops at Northwestern University, Kent State University, New York University and also in Europe.
He is particularly known for his frequent collaborations with contemporary musical theatre writers and artists, including Brian Lowdermilk, Kait Kerrigan, Richard Kind, John McDaniel and B. D. Wong. He is a member of the Casting Society of America.

Cassara is a graduate of Hawken School and Otterbein College where he studied acting.
