Michael S. Breed (born May 14, 1962 in Greenwich, CT) is an American professional golfer who is currently the Head Professional at Sunningdale Country Club in Scarsdale, NY; and he is a Nationwide Tour course reporter for The Golf Channel.


Breed "has been affiliated with The Golf Channel since 1999. He has appeared numerous times on Golf Academy Live [1] as both a guest Instructor as well as a host. He has appeared on golf talk live, viewers forum and Golf Central. Michael has done numerous instructional tips for CBS Sports, Turner Sports, and Cablevision. Currently, he works as an on course commentator for the Golf Channel's coverage of the Nationwide Tour and the PGA Tour."[2]

Breed's first book (co-authored with Greg Midland), "Picture Perfect Golf Swing: The Complete Guide to Golf Swing Video Analysis,"[3] is set to be released by Simon & Schuster/Atria Books on May 13, 2008 [4]. Breed is the inventor of the Putting and Chipping Brace [5] for golfers. He also hosts a radio show called "Tee Time."

  • 2000 Metropolitan PGA Teacher of the Year
  • 2006 Metropolitan PGA Horton Smith Award Winner
  • 2007 Metropolitan PGA Horton Smith Award Winner
  • GOLF MAGAZINE Top 100 Instructor since 2003 [7]
  • Randolph-Macon College Hall of Fame Class of 2004 [8]
  • Number four teacher in the state of New York as ranked by Golf Digest in 2007
  • Featured in several instructional golf videos [9][10][11]
  • Assistant Professional at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, GA from 1989 - 1992


Breed graduated from Randolph-Macon College (Ashland, VA) in 1985. He is the third of four children (two brothers and one sister).
