The Mhallami (Arabic: محلّمى‎, mḥallamī; Syriac: ܡܚܠܡܝ̈ܐ, mḥallmāye; meaning perhaps 'dreamers') are an ethnic group in South-eastern Turkey. Their ancestors were speakers of Arabic and Christian Syriacs who centuries ago converted to Islam.^{[citation needed]} They continue to retain some Christian traditions in their community, and are one of the few groups in modern Turkey that speak Arabic as their mother tongue.
