What does the R mean in this image? 
I can't find the R symbol in the table showing the periodicity of the elements. Could it stand for Arginine? Jecowa (talk) 08:03, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
R stands for radical. You can think of it as a placeholder for any other organic chain. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 12:05, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
