Mettler is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 157 at the 2000 census.

Mettler is located at 35°3′46″N, 118°58′18″W (35.062659, -118.971781)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 157 people, 31 households, and 30 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 724.1 people per square mile (275.5/km²). There were 37 housing units at an average density of 170.6/sq mi (64.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 47.13% White, 52.87% from other races. 84.71% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 31 households out of which 58.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.7% were married couples living together, 19.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 3.2% were non-families. 3.2% of all households were made up of individuals and none had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 5.06 and the average family size was 4.77.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 33.8% under the age of 18, 14.0% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 15.9% from 45 to 64, and 5.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 27 years. For every 100 females there were 103.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 108.0 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $28,750, and the median income for a family was $28,750. Males had a median income of $11,429 versus $27,917 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $6,919. About 5.9% of families and 19.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 31.3% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those sixty five or over.
