Talk:Mestee

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article was recently proposed for deletion on May 4, 2008 at 6:10 (timestamp = 20080504061044), and the reasons stated were as follows: 'The "mestee" term is only used by one ex-professor and one amateur crank. It has no wider circulation. This article was created by said amateur crank, who cites his own unpublished "book". Most of the claims here are uncited and unsustainable. Of the few substantive cites, several falsify the source. In short, there is nothing here worth preserving.'

It is certainly true that this article needs a considerable amount of additional work, but I do not feel that it should be deleted outright. There are a number of articles linked to this one, and there is also content that, while controversial and not fully substantiated, is useful for those who are interested in studying historical and contemporary attidudes toward multiraciality in the United States. If no one else steps forward to help correct some of the deficiencies in the article, I might try my best to see what I can accomplish in that regard. Todgar (talk) 15:30, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

First, the article's title and purpose has to be justified. Besides the original author, who else uses this word? It looks to me like one lone crank -- who has never been able to get his book published -- attempting to impose his iconoclastic view on Wikipedia.Verklempt (talk) 21:09, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
