Meshcode
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Meshcode is the name of a current experimental project in Social Network Aggregation. It is an artistic approach, specifically being attempted by actors with a conscience of themselves within the immediate sphere of Social Media Technologies. The aim is to identify and connect actual, practical human life with New Media tools of the emerging World Wide Web.
This work is based in the Kensington Market, in Toronto, Canada and was formed in May of 2008.
[edit] About
In Web 2.0 terminology, the described process differs from mashups, mashlets and mashing because it is an artistic experiment based out of a particular location, unique circumstances and individuals with an aim aside from all use except to harness connectivity and immediate action. For example, what it means, out of immediate necessity, to develop a Web application which can provide basic survival information for a homeless person.
Meshcode is the emergent vehicle of Social Network Aggregation. The term is derived from the words "mesh" and "code". It is possible to program (code) a connection (mesh) of Widgets on a Web Page. These little programs, which, in essence, "summarize larger programs", may communicate with one another to create a certain experience for the user.
Meshcoding is the process of linking fed algorithms to form intelligent real-time user experiences. This is an aspect of Web 2.0.
[edit] History
It is the sixth project in an evolving series of work by the founder, Mateusz Kuiavski. The previous projects are:
- the live KM5T blue public space manifesto
- (painting and breathing exercises)
- an intelligent multiuser data mine swarm
- (emergent and artificially stupid software) based on server-side scripting using Adobe's Flash Communication Server
- the connectivist biopunk manifesto
- (theoretical paper about DNA communication)
- the communal development aspect of the Personal Telefire Device
- (hacking wireless networks by means of networks) based on the Wavebubble
- an ongoing series of performance videos
- (exploration of action under circumstances) currently being posted on youtube.
The website[1] of the current work is being formulated at meshcode.ca.
