[edit] "Wrong link"

The link on the railway company of the line has been struck for something like "Wrong link". The text and the link did give different companies but only because the one had no article and the two companies seemed involved together and in each other in a way that sources, yet to be found, might reveal. Many links are not what the text shows.SilasW (talk) 16:42, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

The edit is correct and I should have removed the link when I made my edits in February to remove the erroneous link from the next/preceding info box.
The Tooting, Merton and Wimbledon Railway (TM&WR) was opened in 1868 and ran from Wimbledon to Tooting; the Wimbledon and Sutton Railway (W&SR) was established as a completely separate company in 1910 to build a line from Wimbledon to Sutton. Other than the two railway companies both serving Wimbledon station and both later being absorbed into the Southern Railway they had no relationship whatsoever - in fact the two stations that were solely on the TM&WR route (Merton Abbey and Tooting Junction) were closed before the W&SR opened. The W&SR article cannot be substituted for the other in the absence of an article on the TM&WR as there is nothing about the TM&WR in that article (nor should there be). --DavidCane (talk) 23:21, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
