Shouldn't this redirect to Merpeople instead of Merman? - Drahcir
- Not really. Merpeople itself just redirects yet again to Merman. Merman is the more popular name, so that's where the article is, per Wikipedia guidelines.
- I wish people wouldn't get so upset over the use of words with "man" in them and assuming that it always means male. Or perhaps that's just something I should expect out of the "hupeople" race these days. DreamGuy 09:06, 14 December 2005 (UTC)
- I see. There used to be an article for Merpeople which I now see has been removed. Nevermind that then. - Drahcir
- The issue with "merman" is that it was very obviously coined specifically as a male counterpart to the more popular "mermaid". If anything, it would make more sense to use "mermaid" as the gender-neutral term than "merman". But nobody does that, of course. -- Milo
