Depending on where you look it would appear that there is some confusion as to which of Kevorkian's devices was called the Thanatron and which the Mercitron. This article for example would seem to indicate that both his IV device and the carbon monoxide device were initially referred to as Mercitron devices. This article however seems to refer to the IV device as the thanatron, however it does not refer at all to the later carbon monoxide device. (PsychoSmith 03:17, 15 January 2007 (UTC))
