Mervin Muniz, Jr. Memorial Handicap

The Mervin Muniz Jr. Memorial Handicap is a race for Thoroughbred horses run at Fair Grounds Race Course each year. The Grade II 'Muniz' is open to horses, age four and up, willing to race one and one-eighth miles on the turf and carries a purse of $500,000.
The 'Muniz' was formerly known as the Explosive Bid Handicap.
Jockey Robby Albarado has won the 'Muniz' three times, most recently in 2007 aboard Einstein.
