Merthyr is a named locality within the Brisbane, Queensland suburb of New Farm centred around Merthyr Rd. It is the northside terminus of Tranlink Bus route 196, Fairfield Gardens to CITY to New Farm (Merthyr). It is also served by route 199, West End to CITY to New Farm (Teneriffe Ferry).

Merthyr does not appear in the Australia Post Postcodes list, so mail should properly be addressed as New Farm, Queensland, 4005.

There is a small commercial precinct around the intersection of Merthyr Rd and Brunswick St, that includes Merthyr Village.

A suburban strip mall and associated commercial precinct at 85 Merthyr Rd, New Farm, Queensland near the intersection with Briunswick St, a block toward Fortitude Valley from New Farm Park.

It can be reached by bus, either route 199, or Route 196, the nearby stops being Stops 11 and 14 on Merthyr Rd depending on direction of travel.
