Qianjiang

  • May 18, 1988: State Council established Qianjiang Prefecture out of a former territory of Fuling (5 counties 石柱、秀山、黔江、酉阳、彭水 Shizhu, Xiushan, Qianjiang, Xiyang, Pengshui)

Wanxian

  • Dec 12, 92: State Council abolished Wanxian Prefecture and its subordinate Wanxian City ---->>> Create prefecture-level Wanxian City, which administer 3 districts of Longbao, Tiancheng, Wuqiao (龙宝区、天城区、五桥区) + the counties of Kai, Zhong, Liangping, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wushan, Wuxi, and Kaikou (开县、忠县、梁平县、云阳县、奉节县、巫山县、巫溪县、城口县).

Fuling

  • Nov 5, 1995: Abolish Fuling Prefecture + the original county-level city (原县级涪陵市) -> Prefectural Fuling City, administer the 3 cities of Dianjiang, Wulong, Fengdu (垫江、武隆、丰都) + Nanchuan District (南川) + newly established 2 districts of Zhicheng and Lidu (枳城、李渡). [2], [3]

  • Sometime between 83 and 94: Chongqing City incorporated Yongchuan (included 8 counties: Jiangjin, Hechuan, Tongnan, Tongliang, Dazu, Rongchang, and Bishan)
  • March 1, 1995: Division changes to 11 districts, 3 cities, and 7 counties
    • Ba'nan (巴南区) and Yubei Districts were added.
    • Xiaoba (销巴县) and Jiangbei (江北县) Counties were abolished
