[edit] Ownership of articles
Since no one "owns" any part of any article, if you create or edit an article, you should not sign (~~~~) it. On the other hand, when adding comments, questions, or votes to back end pages, like "Talk" pages, it is good to "own" your text, so the best practice is to sign it. For more editing "do"s and "don't"s, you might want to go through the brief Tutorial. At least with existing pages, you can get an idea of where it's appropriate to add your signature by noting what previous contributors have done. (from Don't sign what you don't own)
Your contributions are appreciated. Happy editing. NickelShoe 16:12, 13 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Image:ALAN ROBSON METRO.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ALAN ROBSON METRO.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. The JPStalk to me 15:55, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Davidbb.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Davidbb.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Your comments about Deva Victrix
I have replied to your comments. If the external site can be linked with a relevant and justified section within the article, I would find no problem in it being included.
With respect to your comment about a "threat" being made by my issuing a warning to an IP user. Your comments were quite unhelpful. The user concerned did add the external link I claimed was a commercial one, but then, after I had removed it, removed a site on the grounds that it, too, was commercial when it clearly was not. This is a clear-cut case of disruption, as far as I can see, as the correct way of procedding would have been to open discussions, as you did. hence the immediate warning was justified. [edit] Your VandalProof Application
Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Melonite. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that:
You do not yet have enough edits in the main namespace.
Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. Ale_Jrbtalk 17:34, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Davidbb.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Davidbb.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Strangerer (Talk) 11:35, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Davidbb.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Davidbb.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:35, 30 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 09:35, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Changdao Islands
Thanks for adding characters to the Changdao Islands article. However, characters are only necessary for the title, unless they serve a disambiguation function. Normally, where another article is linked, such as Penglai City, characters are unnecessary as that article will have characters in its own lead sentence. Please be careful when adding characters that you use () and not [], otherwise you produce redlinks. --Bejnar 00:29, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
