[edit] Merger

As with the Sunbury/Bendigo articles, would there be any objections to merging this with the Ballarat line article? It is not referred to by anybody as the "Melton line". Somebody in the WWW (talk) 09:59, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

I'll just reply here - its hard to work out how to slice and dice everything - the whole suburban / country thing is a bit of a mess, I read the other the VR used to call Lilydale a country station up until the 1930s or something. I would like to merge suburban lines with the country extensions, then write an article on the history of the suburban services themselves (as with the V/Line services) but that is a whole other matter.
I see your point about the timetables (V/Line publishes a Bacchus Marsh / Melton only one, in addition to the Ararat / Ballarat one?) but then again you look on the suburban network map they call them the Sunbury and Melton lines. I think this practice goes back to the 1970 and the 'VR suburban network' maps they had in the then band new Hitachis. The 1980s MTA maps just continued it. As to whether that means the Melton lines deserves it's own article - I'm not sure yet. Wongm (talk) 10:28, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
