Can this be sourced, and explained, because dimples don't explain that status to me.

I think it's probably more because of her status as one of the few pretty, sexy large women on TV, who is not generally shown in a disparaging way, but as someone with a life, personality, and storyline that is not based on her weight. A lot of men who are attracted to larger women find her very sexy and attractive (of course the cute dimples may be a part of that).
