Talk:Mel and Norma Gabler

[edit] POV

This article clearly favours the politics of the people it's about - I'll try to edit it for NPOV, but it may require work from other people to bring it into line with Wikipedia policies as it covers areas I'm not entirely familiar with. Autarch 18:35, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I've managed to remove some of the POV problem, but I'll take a longer look at it over the next while. If anybody can point me to references backing up sentences I deleted, particularly about publishers changing policies, I'd be happy if they were included with supporting references. Yes, one of the links does say that publishers changed policies to avoid the ire of the Gablers on more than one occasions.

The article looks neutral to me.

I'm not that familiar with the extent of their influence on US textbooks - I've found a link from PZ Meyers which would fit the external links section - it lists criticisms of the Gablers. Autarch 19:25, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
The article initally seemed very much POV in favour of the Gablers - I've added a link to the NYT that lists some of their more bizarre attempts to remove material (e.g. Robin Hood). There's also a matter of tone - the reference to the kitchen table - that sounds not very encyclopedic. Autarch (talk) 19:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed Merge

There is so much overlap between the two articles that it seems sensible to merge them - both focus on the Gabler's campaigning. Autarch (talk) 08:56, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

I agree -- perhaps redirect Mel and Norma Gabler to Educational Research Analysts. Cactus Wren (talk) 19:52, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
