WP:VAIN Self-posted bio. The subject seems sufficiently famous to be in Wikipedia. However, it is against Wikipedia policy to post one's own biography. Delete or keep? --Nagle 07:55, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Need some opinions on this. It's a self-published bio by an professor of design and author of design books. He has his own personal web site. His main books are "The Design Encyclopedia" (Amazon sales rank #222,798), and "New Chairs" (Amazon sales rank #998,166). If it's to be kept, it needs a rewrite by a third party. --Nagle 17:23, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

WP:V Article claims that subject won Besterman McColvin award, but web site of organization issuing award does not show him as winner. Verification required. --Nagle 19:38, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Award verified, flag removed. --Nagle 20:38, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

The truth is that it matters not to me that my biography is in Wikipedia. Someone informed me that I should be in Wikipedia. This person, preferring not to be identified here, then wrote something and sent it to me. It was incorrect, sloppy, and not in a Wiki or encyclopedia style. Therefore, being as fastidious as I am, I rewrote it and included it in Wikipedia myself. If the Wikipedia staff wishes to remove it or have it rewritten by another, either is fine with me. My pleasure lies in the bios I have solely contributed about others who are far more worthy of inclusion than me or, frequently, expanding and/or correcting existing entries. Short biographies are after all my specialty--Mel Byars, 7 June 2006
